The combined strike on December 13 is referred to as one of the most significant attacks on Ukrainian energy in recent times.
Cruise missiles and ballistic missiles primarily targeted the western regions.
Oleg Popenko, an expert in the housing and utilities sector, spoke about the consequences of the ongoing Russian attacks.
According to the specialist, the impacts from the RF have worsened the transmission of electricity across Ukraine, and there are also reports of damage to gas supply networks and storage facilities, which has hindered Ukraine's ability to deliver gas to power generation sites, some of which rely on it.
Popenko added that this complicates the situation not only with electricity but also poses risks for the heating season, as gas is essential for its stability.
"The frost, which is expected to last for several days, coupled with missile strikes, poses a significant threat to our ability to get through the heating season," – warned Oleg Popenko.
The expert predicts that 12 hours without electricity is just the beginning.
"In some regions of Ukraine, power outages could last up to 16 or even 20 hours. A major question arises: how can people survive in such conditions? What about the residents of Kryvyi Rih, where around 70,000 people have been without heating for two months?" - asks Oleg Popenko.
According to Popenko, if severe frost hits, a disaster could occur.
