This direction is crucial for both sides of the conflict, and it is here that the fate of the war may be determined.
This was stated by military expert Sergey Grabskiy during a broadcast on the FREEДОМ channel. According to him, the Southern direction is strategic, as it opens the way to important cities such as Zaporizhzhia. In this section of the front, the enemy is trying to create constant tension so that Ukrainian units cannot be redeployed to other fronts, particularly to Donbas.
"The fate of this war is being decided precisely in the Southern direction. The outcome of this war depends on how the situation will develop in the Southern direction," notes Grabskiy.
In recent months, Ukrainian defenders have been actively overturning units to hold back Russian troops, which has helped slow the advance of the occupiers. At the same time, it is critically important for the Russians to eliminate the successes of the Ukrainian defenders and create conditions for an advance to the north, explains Grabskiy.
"For instance, if we talk about the settlement of Kamenske, located on the shore of the former Kakhovka reservoir, the nearest road to Zaporizhzhia runs through it. It is logical to assume that the enemy may use this direction to launch an offensive," the military expert explains.
Grabskiy noted that although there are no clear signs of troop formations for an offensive from the Russian side, such a scenario remains quite possible. However, to organize a large-scale offensive, the Russians will need a significant amount of military resources, so Ukrainian intelligence will quickly notice any such preparatory steps.
