Russians will not find it easy to cross the Oskol River and reach the right bank of Kupiansk.
This was stated by Yuri Fedorenko, commander of the "Achilles" battalion of strike unmanned aerial complexes, in an interview with NV. He explained that although the Russians are eager to cross the Oskol, doing so in practice will be an extremely challenging task.
The military recalled that in 2022, Ukrainian forces also faced the task of crossing the Oskol during the liberation of Kupianshchyna, and it was one of the most difficult operations. Today, Ukrainian fighters have significantly strengthened their positions thanks to FPV drones and other unmanned systems, which allow them to effectively identify and destroy enemy units even before they approach the river.
The commander of "Achilles" added that the occupiers are focused on consolidating their positions on the left bank of the river, near the settlement of Kruglyakovka. It is very important for Russian forces to secure this area and create a foothold from which they could potentially organize new offensive operations.
Currently, according to Fedorenko, Russian forces intend to establish a outpost near Kupiansk-Uzlovy, from where they can bring in artillery and prepare for further attacks on Ukrainian positions. However, there is no talk of crossing the Oskol in the near future — without seizing a foothold on the left side and creating conditions for full-fledged artillery preparation, crossing the river remains highly unlikely.
