Russian occupiers continue to build up their forces in the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, having concentrated up to 90,000 troops.
This was reported by military analyst and former spokesperson for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Vladislav Seleznev, during a broadcast on "24 Channel." He emphasized that the risks of an offensive in the southern direction and the opening of a new front are very real. Russian troops have significantly strengthened their positions in southern Zaporizhia, but logistical challenges remain a key obstacle to a large-scale offensive.
Supply of ammunition for such a large grouping of Russian troops is hampered by the unreliable operation of the Kerch ferry. Additionally, the remaining important route, the Crimean Bridge, may not withstand the load from such volumes of transportation.
According to the expert, after the capture of Ugledar, Russian troops gained the ability to utilize the railway network in the southern Donetsk region to support their grouping in Zaporizhia. This allows the occupiers to consistently supply weapons and other materials, theoretically enabling them to strengthen their positions.
Vladislav Seleznev reminded of the words of the head of GUR, Kyrylo Budanov, who stated in early August that the occupiers had resources for active actions for only one and a half to two months.
“Two months have passed since early October, and the enemy continues to advance,” noted the expert.
However, for a new large-scale offensive in Zaporizhia, the Russians still lack resources.
