“France and Britain, which Zelensky looks up to, and which modern Ukraine aligns with, this alliance advocates for a war until a victorious end against Russia, opposing any search for compromises with Russia that could be interpreted on its side as a victory. And Trump, sensing this resistance, made several very interesting statements,” notes Ruslan Bortnik.

In particular, he recalls, Trump stated that this madness must stop immediately, that the ceasefire should be enacted, that Ukraine has absurdly lost 400 thousand soldiers and even more civilians, and that he knows Vladimir well; now is his time to act. As the expert points out, opinions are divided on which Vladimir is being referred to, but if it is about Zelensky, then it aligns with the Trump and Kellogg model, suggesting that Ukraine should take the initiative for a peaceful settlement.

Additionally, he highlights that Trump mentioned China could assist, despite his anti-China rhetoric, there is such an appeal. According to the expert, China could, on one hand, pressure Russia to cease fire, and on the other, help Ukraine financially with its recovery.

“Effectively, Trump is inviting China into this dialogue, suggesting that let’s try to resolve the situation together, achieve some sort of balance, against which, paradoxically, both direct parties of the war are opposed. Because today Ukraine and Russia in unison, in chorus, state that there is no freezing until we achieve our goals,” concludes Ruslan Bortnik.
