A new initiative proposed by the "Confederation" party aims to restrict access to medical services exclusively for Ukrainians who are employed and contribute to health insurance.
As reported by Visit Ukraine, since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainians legally residing in Poland have had the right to free medical care.
However, under the new bill, free medical services will only be available to those who regularly pay health contributions in Poland. The authors of the initiative seek to align the rights of Ukrainian refugees with those of Polish citizens and other foreigners who must pay for health insurance to access medical services.
If the bill is passed, employed individuals making contributions will continue to receive medical assistance for free, while other Ukrainians will be required to cover their healthcare costs independently. The bill is awaiting consideration in the Polish Sejm, and its provisions could come into effect 30 days after approval.
Earlier, Politeka also wrote that German authorities have revised their approach to providing financial support, resulting in changes to the amount of assistance offered. Following the start of the full-scale invasion by Russia, many Ukrainians were forced to leave their homes, and a significant number of refugees received temporary protection in Germany, where they are provided with financial aid. However, changes affecting the amount of this support may be introduced in 2025.
