The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, held a meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, during which they discussed potential pathways to end the war in Ukraine.
According to the Turkish leader's administration, the talks took place at the presidential complex. The Turkish publication Haber notes that Lavrov's visit, coinciding with the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion by Russia, holds particular significance. The meeting lasted for an hour, with one of its key topics being the resolution of the conflict.
Before his negotiations with Erdoğan, Lavrov met with the Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. During a press conference, Fidan emphasized that an end to the war is possible through diplomatic means.
For his part, Lavrov stated that to conclude hostilities, it is necessary to address the root causes of their emergence. He also assured that Russia will continue dialogue with the United States, despite the differences that arose during recent talks in Riyadh.
In a public address on the occasion of the third anniversary of Russia's invasion, Erdoğan highlighted that Turkey supports the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence of Ukraine and is committed to facilitating a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
