The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, made harsh statements regarding the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, accusing him of "begging" across Europe.

He made these remarks during a meeting of the parliamentary committee on European affairs, discussing the cessation of Russian gas transit through Ukraine and subsequent actions.

“I am not here to help President Zelensky. I admit, it gets tiresome at times. He constantly travels around Europe, begging and blackmailing others for money. This must come to an end,” Fico stated.

He also noted that, in his opinion, the decision to halt gas transit was made by Ukraine solely for political reasons.

Fico once again threatened to stop any humanitarian aid to Ukraine, halt electricity supplies, and block financial support at the EU level.

Halting Russian Gas Transit

As of January 1 at 7:00 AM, Ukraine officially ceased the transportation of Russian gas through its territory. The European Union stated that it was prepared for this move.

Earlier, Fico had claimed that Slovakia might stop supplying electricity to Ukraine, which is in need due to shortages caused by Russian shelling. This was a response to Kyiv's decision not to extend gas transit from the Russian Federation.
