Fuel oil that leaked into the Sea of Azov due to the tanker accident involving Volgoneft on December 15 has reached the shores.
This was reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhia region, Yevhen Balitsky, on his Telegram channel.
According to his information, pollution has been detected along the Azov coast, particularly at Berdyansk Spit. A contaminated area measuring 14.5 km in length with small fragments of fuel oil has been identified here.
Additionally, a contaminated section covering 5 square meters was found on the coast of Peresyp Spit, where solid particles of fuel oil are present.
Earlier, it was reported that due to the oil product spill near the Kerch Strait, Ukraine intends to appeal to international judicial bodies, including the International Court of the UN, filing a lawsuit against Russia for violations of maritime rights.
