The European Commission has reported the embezzlement of funds during the procurement of generators for Ukraine by the Polish company RARS. The amount of the embezzlement totaled 91 million euros, and Poland will have to reimburse these funds from its state budget, as reported by RMF FM.
The project for purchasing generators for Ukraine is funded by the European Union. Last week, the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) completed its investigation into potential embezzlement during the utilization of these funds.
OLAF found, among other issues, "price inflation, lack of competition, and the granting of undue advantages to certain contractors."
These violations occurred under the governance of the Polish party "Law and Justice," and the investigation has led to the arrest of three individuals.
The European Commission will conduct a final assessment of the procurement project in 2026. After that, a decision will be made regarding the legal reimbursement of funds by Poland.
"We adhere to a zero-tolerance policy regarding any allegations of fraud, corruption, and misconduct in projects funded by the EU," stated a representative of the European Commission.
In mid-February, Bloomberg reported that Europe is developing a new military aid package for Ukraine. According to Politico, the aid package is estimated at 6 billion euros and "will include everything" from 1.5 million artillery shells to air defense systems.
