According to CNN, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the aircraft went down in the Potomac River during its landing approach. It collided with a Sikorsky H-60 military helicopter.
As reported by American Airlines, the PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700, operating flight 5342, had departed from Wichita, Kansas, with 60 passengers and 4 crew members on board.
The U.S. Department of Defense clarified that there were three military personnel aboard the Army Black Hawk helicopter that collided with the plane. It is known that there were no VIP passengers among them, although such helicopters are frequently used to transport high-ranking officials in Washington.
As of the morning of January 30, CBS, citing police sources, reported that 18 bodies had been recovered from the river. According to law enforcement, no survivors have been found at this time.
