Since the onset of the full-scale war initiated by Russia against Ukraine, the UN has recorded over 12,300 civilian deaths. Additionally, more than 27,800 have been injured. This was stated by Izumi Nakamitsu, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Disarmament Affairs, as reported by "Ukrinform".
From February 24, 2022, to November 30, 2024, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights documented more than 12,340 deaths and 27,836 injuries among civilians in Ukraine.
Nakamitsu also emphasized that approximately 42% of civilian fatalities in Ukraine during November were due to the effects of long-range weaponry used by Russian forces. This figure is significantly higher compared to previous months.
Furthermore, the Under-Secretary-General cited this year's statistics released by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine. According to these figures, from January 1 to November 30, 341 civilians lost their lives due to aerial bombings, and 1,803 individuals sustained injuries. These numbers are three and six times higher than the corresponding figures from last year.
