Today, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Eve of Epiphany, also known as the Eve of the Baptism. This evening precedes the holiday of the Baptism of the Lord and serves as preparation for it. On the Eve of Epiphany, as well as on the day of the Baptism, it is customary to bless water in churches.
