The First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, will be the subject of a new documentary film directed by Brett Ratner and distributed by billionaire Jeff Bezos' Amazon Prime Video. The company claims that the film will offer an "unprecedented behind-the-scenes look" and tell a "truly unique story." This was reported by Daily Mail.
Filming for the documentary is already underway and began in 2024.
This film is yet another testament to the strong relationship between Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Donald Trump. The billionaire donated a million dollars to fund Trump's second inauguration, and the ceremony itself was streamed on Prime Video, which constituted a separate in-kind donation worth another million dollars.
In the past, Jeff Bezos and Donald Trump had a contentious relationship. During his first term, Trump criticized Amazon and opposed the political coverage by the Washington Post, which is owned by Bezos.
However, in December 2024, Bezos stated that he was "optimistic" about Trump's second term.
The documentary about Melania Trump marks Brett Ratner's first project since several women, including actress Olivia Munn, accused him of sexual harassment at the start of the #MeToo campaign in November 2017. Ratner, whose lawyer denied the allegations, is known for directing the "Rush Hour" series, "Horrible Bosses," "X-Men: The Last Stand," and "The Revenant," for which Leonardo DiCaprio won an Oscar. According to Hollywood sources, it seems that the industry has "rejected" him.
Melania Trump, Donald Trump's third wife, has been a mysterious figure since her husband announced his candidacy for the 2016 elections. She has sought to maintain her privacy even as First Lady, focusing on raising their son Barron and promoting her "Be Best" initiative to support the "social, emotional, and physical health of children."
But now, as writer and historian Kate Andersen Brower, who specializes in First Lady matters, states: "This will be Melania 2.0, just like Trump 2.0."
"She will feel much more confident in the White House and in her role," Kate believes.
And now, as 78-year-old Trump grandly begins his second term, a more assertive and determined Melania is starting what appears to be an unusual turn in her role as FLOTUS (First Lady of the United States).
Not least because she is moving into the White House accompanied by a film crew, something that would have been unthinkable for any of her predecessors.
Interestingly, Amazon Prime reportedly shelled out a staggering $40 million for the rights to the film about Melania Trump. According to reports, part of this sum will end up in the First Lady's pockets, as she is a producer.
Previously, she remained in New York while her son Barron, now 18, attended school, a rather bold statement about her priorities, as even Michelle Obama moved her two young daughters to Washington in the middle of the school year when her husband was elected president.
However, Melania insisted that Barron's education should not be interrupted, despite reports of costs for flights and security amounting to $125,000 a day. He is now studying at university.
Yet her defiance continues to show strongly, as Melania told Fox News last week: "For the first time… I just feel that people maybe didn’t accept me. Some people see me only as the president’s wife, but I stand on my own two feet, I am independent. I have my own thoughts."
Let us recall that a body language expert previously discussed what Melania Trump's behavior meant during her husband's inauguration as President of the United States, Donald Trump.
