Conversations with the police were of no help: a domestic abuser in Kharkiv region has been identified as a suspect.

The suspicion was presented to a 47-year-old resident of the Savynska community, writes the regional police department in Kharkiv Oblast.

His wife had repeatedly contacted the police, reporting threats and humiliations from her husband. Law enforcement regularly held preventive talks with him, imposed fines, and warned him about potential criminal liability. However, the police noted that none of these measures proved effective.

“Over the past year, the 47-year-old man has been repeatedly held accountable for threats of physical violence, humiliating his wife, and using obscene language towards her under Article 173-2 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses. Nevertheless, he systematically ignored the measures taken against him and continued to mistreat his wife,” the police reported.

He has now been served with a suspicion and a criminal case has been initiated. The man could face up to two years in prison, the police added.
