A former military officer allegedly sabotaged Ukrainian military vehicles; a Kharkiv resident is suspected of working for Russia's GRU.

The spokesperson for the SBU in the Kharkiv region, Vladislav Abdula, reported that the individuals involved in the case were already preparing new terrorist attacks under the direction of the GRU, specifically targeting a train.

According to the security forces, the suspects operated in a group of four – which included two unemployed individuals, a software engineer, and a former military serviceman. They were coordinated by a militant from the "DPR special forces." Currently, he is fighting in eastern Ukraine and collaborating with the Russian GRU.

“In June of this year, the suspects detonated a car belonging to a member of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As a result of the explosion, the Ukrainian defender sustained serious injuries. To carry out the attack, the suspects monitored the parking of the vehicle in Kharkiv and planted a homemade explosive device underneath it. The agents were preparing for the next attack against the Defense Forces. For this purpose, they created another explosive device and attempted to conceal it in a pre-arranged hideout. Simultaneously, the suspects received orders to track and derail a train transporting military equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the front line,” Abdula wrote.

The security forces have already apprehended all four individuals involved in the case. One was even caught "in the act" while hiding an explosive device in a wooded area.

The others were arrested at their homes, and law enforcement also seized explosives, phones, and computer equipment containing evidence of the crimes, the SBU added. The men have already been formally charged, and they face life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
