U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump made a joint appearance after a long absence of the president's wife from the White House and public events. They attended an evening dinner and reception hosted by the National Governors Association over the past weekend, and the First Lady vanished from the scene once again. This was reported by CNN.
"She has been working very hard to make everything beautiful. And she's very good at it," said President Donald Trump during the dinner with governors. At that moment, Melania was seated next to him. For the public appearance, she chose a tuxedo and a white shirt, echoing the look from her first official portrait in her new role.
Earlier, her press office announced that she is opening the White House for tours, but it remains unclear whether Melania will return to the presidential residence in Washington, D.C.
Since her husband took the oath on January 20, they have hardly been seen together, according to sources familiar with her schedule.
Melania Trump was actively present in the early days of the president's second term, but after a trip to fire-ravaged California on January 24, she did not return to Washington until the end of February.
A representative from the First Lady's office declined to comment on her whereabouts. She stated that she will be wherever she wants to be.
"I will be in the White House. And, you know, when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach. But my main priority is to be a mother, to be the First Lady, to be a wife," the First Lady vaguely asserted.
However, Trump himself has spent most of his time in Florida rather than Washington. Yet, Melania Trump's absence from all significant events has been noticeable. She has not yet undertaken any overseas trips in her new capacity. Insiders believe that the First Lady will not participate publicly in the daily life of her husband's second term but will serve as a "voice in Trump's head," offering him advice.
As a reminder, Melania Trump managed to take an official photo upon her return to the White House. Additionally, Jeff Bezos' Amazon has signed a multimillion-dollar licensing agreement with the First Lady to produce a documentary about her. Melania chose controversial director Brett Ratner for the project.
