The Kovel District court held a hearing regarding a resident of the village of Kolodyazhne, who received a knife during a conflict with employees of the Territorial Center for Staffing (TCS) and the police.
According to the case materials, around 12:00 PM, an unemployed individual engaged in a verbal dispute with law enforcement officers and TCS military personnel.
During the encounter, he used foul language, which led to a protocol being drawn up for petty hooliganism (Article 173 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses). In the course of the conflict, the man obtained a knife, justifying his actions as self-defense against what he perceived as unlawful actions by the law enforcement and military personnel. He also claimed to have seen a gas canister in the hands of one of the soldiers.
At the court hearing, the accused partially admitted his guilt. He explained that the conflict arose from the refusal of the law enforcement and military personnel to provide documents verifying their identity and military status, after which he was threatened with detention.
Considering the case materials, including video and written evidence, the court determined that the accused's actions were not motivated by hooliganism. The man's coarse remarks were a reaction to his disagreement with the police's demands, rather than an act of hooliganism. Therefore, the court decided to close the proceedings due to the absence of an administrative offense.
The case materials were forwarded for further consideration to the Kovel district police department.
