As of January 9, the Russian Armed Forces have achieved successes near nine populated areas in Donbas. Among other developments, the enemy is actively fighting within Toretsk and has pushed Ukrainians out of another neighborhood. Additionally, the Defense Forces are holding a very small area on the western outskirts of Kurakhovo. Furthermore, in the Kursk region, Russian forces have displaced Ukrainians around Malaya Loknya near Sudzha. Analysts from DeepState wrote about the situation in Donetsk and Kursk regions and the offensive by the Russian Federation on their Telegram channel.
Toretsk Direction. According to DeepState data, the Russian Armed Forces have occupied new buildings in the center of Toretsk. The estimated advance is about 300 meters to the north. The map shows that the enemy has captured the area around the Donbas State College of Technologies and Management, located between Druzhby and Lesi Ukrainki streets.
3Pokrovsk Direction. The situation on the eastern and western flanks near Pokrovsk is notably different. On the western flank, the Russian Armed Forces have made significant advances near the villages of Solenoe and Volkovo. The map indicates an expansion of the foothold by nearly 1.5 km. On the eastern flank, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding their positions: near Vozdvizhanka and Baranovka, the front line has shifted by a couple of hundred meters.
4Kurakhovo Direction. In Kurakhovo, the Russian Armed Forces have advanced into the southern outskirts, which were previously marked as under Ukrainian control. The estimated area still held by the Ukrainian Armed Forces is 0.8 sq. km (or 3% of the total area of 24 sq. km). Additionally, Russian units have managed to advance north of the city — near Slavyanka, Petropavlovka, and Novoelizavetovka. The enemy has pushed the front line back by a distance of 1.4-2.8 km, as indicated on the DeepState map.
5 6Kursk Direction. Analysts from DeepState noted that the situation near Kursk is "being clarified." Meanwhile, changes have been marked on the project's map in the area of Malaya Loknya, northwest of Sudzha. There is a possibility that the Russian Armed Forces have managed to reclaim about 24 sq. km and have pushed the front by 4 km. The distance between the extreme points of the front where changes occurred (from Sverdlikovo to Pogrebki) is 12 km.
7 8In a report released at 22:00 on January 8, it was stated that the enemy conducted the most attacks near Kurakhovo (32 times). According to analysts, this is where the enemy's advance is most noticeable. Another direction of active assaults by the Russians is Pokrovsk: there were 27 attacks, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces are maintaining control of the enemy's movement, as advances here are minimal. The situation is also intense near Lyman (17 attacks), while there have been six under Toretsk. No details about the situation in the Kursk region are available, only that Ukrainians repelled 27 assaults by the Russians.
It is noteworthy that on January 8, Forbes reported on the attempt by the Russian Armed Forces to halt the advance of the UAF in the Kursk region. Among other things, the 810th Marine Brigade was thrown into battle, which has lost three command posts and suffered losses in two battles over the past two months.
We remind you that military journalist and chief editor of "Censor.NET" Yuriy Butusov showed footage of the battle involving North Korean soldiers and drones from the 22nd Brigade of the UAF in the Kursk region.
