33-year-old nurse Jessica Perez, fiancée of the world's first man with a fully transplanted face, explained why she chose him. Following the announcement of their wedding, detractors began to insult her and accuse her of selfish motives. This was reported by The Mirror.
"I receive a lot of negative comments online and feel like a punching bag. People call me fake, say I'm after money, and that I'm trying to attract attention this way," Jessica admits.
According to her, haters compare Joe to someone who has developed an allergy to peanuts or bee stings. She mostly ignores such comments, but sometimes responds to her abusers to teach them a lesson.
"It's hard to believe we live in a world where grown men mock people with disabilities, and women bully other women. No one is immune to accidents. People need to remember that," Jessica adds.
The woman confessed that she fell in love with her partner at first sight because she immediately felt a special spiritual connection. She aims to cherish every moment spent with him.
"I fell in love when I hugged him for the first time. Joe fits me in every way. We just want to enjoy the moments we spend together — that's what matters most," the American concludes.
