Six people injured in a fire in the Kharkiv region

128 individuals were rescued from a psychiatric boarding school in the city of Yuzhne, reported the State Emergency Service (SES) in the Kharkiv region.

The fire broke out on the night of December 4 at 21:44 in a two-story building of the psychiatric boarding school.

A mattress and belongings on the second floor were on fire. The area of the blaze was 2 m².

During the fire, 6 people were injured, one of whom suffered 90% burns, while the other 5 experienced carbon monoxide poisoning.

All the injured were hospitalized. Staff of the institution and SES employees rescued 128 individuals.

The fire was extinguished by 22:30.

The preliminary cause of the fire is a short circuit in the electric wire of an anti-decubitus mattress, reported the Kharkiv Regional State Administration (OVA).
