On the night of January 30, Russian forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine, deploying 81 Shahed strike drones and imitation drones. The defense forces shot down 37 enemy UAVs.
This information was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The attack was carried out from Russian territory, with drones being launched from the regions of Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
To repel the aerial assault, aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Forces, and the Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved.
As of 09:00, the downing of 37 drones has been confirmed in Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Odesa regions. Additionally, 39 imitation drones were lost without causing damage.
As a result of the attack, the Chernihiv, Sumy, Odesa, and Poltava regions were affected. Industrial enterprises, residential buildings, and vehicles sustained damage.
In Sumy, one of the drones struck a high-rise building. As a result, four people died, and nine others were injured. Rescuers continue to work at the scene of the tragedy.
