In the Kharkiv Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, they commented on the video that "went viral" on social media on January 19. The footage allegedly shows a fight involving individuals in camouflage clothing.
The TCK explained that the video captures a part of a conflict situation between a man and the soldiers of the alert group. They emphasize that the accusations against the military are unfounded and do not reflect reality.
Furthermore, the TCK denies the information suggesting that the soldiers might have been under the influence of alcohol.
“During the alert activities conducted by the alert group consisting of soldiers from the regional TCK and an employee of the National Police, a citizen was stopped for identification and verification of military registration documents. However, the man began to behave inadequately, suddenly using pepper spray directed at the face of one of the soldiers, and then attempted to flee,” the TCK reported.
They continued: the alert group stopped the man again to check his documents.
“The citizen once again used pepper spray and started shouting loudly, fell onto the sidewalk, pretending to be attacked, and after this performance, he fled the scene. Thus, the conflict situation was provoked by the unlawful actions of the citizen who was stopped by the alert group,” the TCK stated.
They informed that the details of the incident have been forwarded to law enforcement agencies. They promise to provide maximum assistance to law enforcement in the event of investigative actions.
“We remind you that officials, particularly the soldiers of the TCK and SP, who carry out notifications of military personnel, are performing their official duties during the martial law regime. Any attempts to hinder alert measures are unlawful!” the TCK emphasized.
