On the night of January 4, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine using 81 Shahed strike drones and other imitation unmanned aerial vehicles. The air defense successfully eliminated 34 enemy targets.
This information was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The attack originated from the directions of Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, located within Russian territory. Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Forces, and Defense Forces were involved in repelling the air assault.
As of 9:00 AM, the downing of 34 Shahed strike drones and other types of unmanned vehicles has been confirmed in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Mykolaiv regions.
Additionally, due to the active resistance of the Defense Forces, 47 enemy imitation drones lost their locational connectivity. However, some of the downed drones caused damage to private homes in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions. Affected individuals are receiving the necessary assistance.
