Family drama in Kharkiv: why did a man bury his friend?

A 46-year-old man struck his friend multiple times on the head with a wooden stick, reported the National Police.

On December 14, a resident of the Malinovskaya community informed the police in the Chuhuiv district that her husband had gone missing three days prior. He had been visiting friends but never returned home. The police searched for the man but were unsuccessful.

On December 29, the body of the missing man was discovered in a wooded area on the outskirts of the city.

According to Chuhuiv District Police Chief Sergey Ponomarev, investigators learned that after visiting friends, the 41-year-old man stopped by to see an acquaintance on his way home.

“During their meeting, a quarrel broke out between them. The attacker struck the victim on the head several times with a wooden stick. When he realized that his friend was dead, he decided to dispose of the body and cover his tracks. He wrapped the deceased in plastic wrap, placed him in the trunk of his car, and took him to the forest area, where he buried him under debris,” he stated.

The man died from a traumatic brain injury, as determined by a forensic expert.

Law enforcement identified the attacker as the 46-year-old godfather of the deceased, who also resides in the Malinovskaya community.

On December 30, investigators notified the suspect of charges for intentional murder. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
