Near the city of Volchansk in the Kharkiv region, on February 4th, Russian military forces attacked the TSN and 1+1 Marathon team using an FPV drone.
The journalists were filming a report about Ukrainian soldiers, reports the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office. A 31-year-old operator sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital, where medical staff are providing him with the necessary assistance.
According to a statement on the TSN website, journalist Alexander Motorniy and operator Pavel Borisko were caught in the shelling while they were filming a report on the operations of Ukrainian drone operators near Volchansk. The operator suffered multiple shrapnel wounds and a broken leg.
“At one point, artillery fire erupted around us. The guys said that a storming operation was likely to follow. They received the command to take off. The guys took flight — Pasha and I filmed the first launch,” Motorniy recounted.
Borisko was filming the launch of the next drone and was near a crew member when they were attacked by an enemy drone.
“At first, I thought it was artillery fire. About 30 seconds later, we rushed outside — I saw Pavel near the shelter. I immediately rushed to him — he was lying injured, covered in blood. The second guy, who was loading, was hurt even worse… Pavel had a broken leg. The crew commander ran over, applied a tourniquet as required. We stabilized his leg with a splint,” Motorniy recalls.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated regarding the commission of a war crime (Part 1, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
