In 2024, firefighters in Kharkiv extinguished 10,840 fires, reported the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU).

Rescuers conducted emergency and rescue operations at 1,252 sites where fires occurred due to Russian shelling.

They rescued 321 individuals from the rubble during fires.

Psychologists from the SESU provided assistance to 19,936 people.

Sappers from the joint detachment of the SESU in the Kharkiv region discovered 22,293 enemy mines and shells over the year.

Four employees of the Kharkiv garrison of the SESU lost their lives due to repeated enemy shelling. By a decree of the President of Ukraine, Artem Kostyra, head of the Kharkiv district department, was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine. Drivers from the 6th State Fire and Rescue Unit of Kharkiv, Sergey Baidalinov, Vladislav Loginov, and Vladimir Matyushenko, were awarded the Order of Courage III class (posthumously).

The Russians destroyed and damaged fire depots in the villages of Bely Kolodets, Kazachya Lopan, the village of Liptsy, as well as four fire and rescue units in Kharkiv.
