The body of a 15-year-old boy was found on the first floor. He lived with his grandmother and grandfather, reported Dmitry Chubenko, a spokesperson for the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, during a national marathon broadcast.
“At the time of the collapse, they were in another room, while the boy was in the room where six floors collapsed. Rescuers can visually see the body of the boy, but the heavy debris makes it difficult; the issue of how to extricate him without causing further harm is currently being addressed. Most likely, the boy has already perished, as he has been trapped for a long time, suffering severe injuries, and there are no signs of life; his limbs are not moving. However, we will only be able to confirm his actual death once the body is fully extricated and examined by medical professionals. We hope for the best, but unfortunately, it is likely that he has already passed,” Chubenko stated.
As of now, according to him, there are reports of 35 injured individuals. Nine people are in serious condition. One of the victims has undergone a leg amputation. Additionally, various injuries have been diagnosed, including acoustic trauma, fractures, and closed head injuries.
