The United States plans to hold separate talks with representatives from Russia and Ukraine ahead of potential joint negotiations. This was reported by NBC News sources among American officials.

This approach indicates that the U.S. is actively engaging with both Russia and Ukraine.

Sources from Russian and American media have stated that discussions regarding the cessation of hostilities involving delegations from Russia and the U.S. will take place in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) on February 18.

An NBC News source close to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that as of the evening of February 15, Kyiv had not yet received an invitation to the peace talks between the U.S. and Russia in Saudi Arabia.

Sources from the U.S. network confirmed this information.

"It's dangerous to talk to enemies before you talk to allies. Ukraine's position remains unchanged: before any negotiations with Putin, we need a unified stance from Ukraine, the U.S., and Europe," said an NBC interlocutor in Ukraine.

After a phone conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin on February 12, the Kremlin stated that Washington would be the "main interlocutor" for Russia in the negotiation process, but Moscow would also engage in talks with Kyiv.

Shortly thereafter, Trump announced that negotiations to end the Russian-Ukrainian war would take place in Saudi Arabia. According to him, representatives from the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine would participate.

Additionally, he mentioned plans to meet with Putin in the country. Their discussions are expected to occur at the end of February.

On February 16, a delegation from the Ukrainian government arrived in Saudi Arabia for a working visit. Among other tasks, its representatives will prepare for President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the country.
