Ukraine was not informed in advance about a possible conversation between the newly elected President of the United States Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The information circulating in the media is inaccurate. This was reported by Reuters, citing a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgiy Tikhiy.
On the evening of Sunday, November 10, The Washington Post reported that a telephone conversation took place between the two politicians on Thursday, where the issue of the war in Ukraine was discussed.
Journalistic sources claimed that Kyiv was notified about the planned call; however, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this information is not true.
"Reports suggesting that the Ukrainian side was informed in advance about this call are false. Consequently, Ukraine could neither support nor oppose this conversation," said Georgiy Tikhiy.
It is worth noting that, according to the American newspaper, during the conversation with Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump may have asked him to refrain from escalating the situation in Ukraine and reminded him that Washington has a significant military presence in Europe. Additionally, the dialogue covered the topic of establishing peace across the continent and the importance of maintaining subsequent discussions to end the war.
On November 9, it was reported that Donald Trump is considering a peace settlement plan for the war in Ukraine. The plan proposed by the newly elected U.S. president includes a freeze on hostilities along the front line, which should be patrolled by European forces without American involvement.
