The President of the United States, Donald Trump, commented on the plane crash near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, stating that the tragedy was likely avoidable.
He shared his thoughts on the social media platform Truth Social.
According to him, the aircraft was following the standard landing trajectory while a helicopter had been flying towards it for an extended period. He mentioned that the night was clear and the aircraft's lights were on.
"Why didn’t the helicopter change altitude or direction? Why didn’t the control tower provide clear instructions, only asking if they could see the plane? This is a terrible situation that seems preventable," Trump wrote.
