The detained individual is an Afghan citizen who arrived in Germany in 2022. He had previously been involved in three cases related to violence and had undergone psychiatric treatment. About a month and a half ago, he expressed a desire to leave the country, which led to the suspension of his asylum application process.

As Minister Herrmann noted, the motives of the perpetrator have not yet been established. No evidence of his connections to radical Islamist groups was found during the searches. The primary theory remains mental instability.
