This January, Ukraine is set to receive three French Mirage 2000-5F fighter jets.
This information comes from Avions Legendaires.
These aircraft have been retired from the French Air and Space Force and have been upgraded to undertake more complex missions. In total, around ten such fighters are expected to be transferred.
Initially, the first three planes may arrive by January 20, 2025. Some sources suggest that they are already in Ukraine and are being used for training purposes.
What is known about the transfer of Mirage 2000 aircraft to Ukraine
The Mirage 2000 is a multi-role single-engine fighter jet. France plans to gradually replace its fleet of Mirages with the latest Rafale fighters by 2030.
According to Reuters, Paris is also urging other countries that possess Mirage jets to transfer them to Ukraine.
In June 2024, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France would provide Kyiv with Mirage fighters and prepare the first Ukrainian pilots by the end of the year. Over the next two years, France aims to certify the training of 26 Ukrainian pilots.
