The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal from the Ministry of Veterans Affairs regarding the provision of state assistance for sports activities to combat veterans and individuals with disabilities due to the war. This was reported by the government representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.

The experimental project will be implemented over two years. Veterans aged 18 and older, who possess a taxpayer registration number, will receive 1,500 UAH per quarter for engaging in physical culture and sports.

Funding for the project is allocated under the budget program "Measures to Support and Assist War Veterans, Their Families, and Families of the Deceased."

The assistance of 1,500 UAH will be provided exclusively for the purchase of services in a cashless form from entrepreneurs engaged in physical culture and sports activities within Ukraine.

It is worth noting that in 2025, more funds will be spent on supporting veterans than on rehabilitating defenders. The veteran fund in the state budget for 2025 is allocated 10.5 billion UAH, of which 3 billion UAH will go to "veteran assistants," and half as much — 1.7 billion UAH — will be spent on the physical and psychological rehabilitation of defenders.
