Ukrainians are receiving financial aid for firewood and gas for heating. Find out who is eligible for this assistance.

Ukrainians can apply for a subsidy for firewood and liquefied gas. The amount of the payment is based on the family's income. For instance, for two tons of fuel (at 3,824.63 UAH per ton) and two gas cylinders (at 382.46 UAH per cylinder), the government may cover up to 3,929.36 UAH. The final subsidy amount is calculated as the difference between the cost of fuel within the established norms and the mandatory payment. This information is reported by the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU).

The fuel subsidy is provided for a period of one calendar year and is paid on the condition that the household uses the specified types of fuel for heating their home. The amount of the payment is determined based on:

• household income;
• fuel consumption norms;
• government-established maximum cost characteristics.

This support is primarily intended for residents of rural areas and small settlements where there is no centralized heating or gas supply. The subsidy is available only to families whose income level does not allow them to cover heating costs independently. The annual income of the household for the previous calendar year is taken into account.

According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 356 dated April 23, 2012, the following liquefied gas consumption norms are established:

• 2 cylinders – for 1–2 people;
• 3 cylinders – for 3–4 people;
• 4 cylinders – for 5 or more people.

The norm for solid fuel consumption is 2 tons per household.

To receive the subsidy, one must contact the social protection authority at their place of residence and provide the necessary documents. Specifically:

• an application for the subsidy;
• a declaration of income and property status;
• a certificate of household composition;
• documents confirming the purchase of fuel if it pertains to a repeat payment.

If the application is approved, the subsidy is transferred to the applicant's account or paid through a postal office. The amount of the subsidy is calculated using a formula that takes into account:

• the cost of fuel within the consumption norms and established maximum values;
• the mandatory payment of the household, which depends on the income level.
