The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck over 54,000 enemy targets with drones in December. Nearly half of this result was achieved by kamikaze drones.
This information was shared by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, on Facebook.
The Commander held a monthly meeting with the commanders of drone units and electronic warfare regarding the outcomes of December's operations.
According to him, there is a continued increase in the use of unmanned systems on the battlefield. The Russians have raised the share of strike drones with fiber-optic control channels, which pose a threat to military equipment during its movement. However, as Syrskyi pointed out, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have also started to utilize FPV drones with fiber optics.
Additionally, the Commander noted the trend of increasing effectiveness and survivability rates of drones. Leading in this area is the drone battalion of Major Robert Brovdi.
"In total, in December, the operators of the drone units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit over 54,000 enemy targets. Almost half of this result—49%—was achieved by kamikaze drones," he stated.
The highest performance indicators were demonstrated by the drone units of the 46th Air Assault, 57th Motorized Infantry, 28th Mechanized, 35th Marine Corps, and 3rd Assault Brigades.
Syrskyi also listened to reports from the Commander of the UAV Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Vadym Sukharevskyi, and representatives of other military branches. They discussed high-tech developments in unmanned systems and electronic warfare, their application on the battlefield, and countering the latest enemy equipment.
"I paid special attention to enhancing the capabilities of the drone unit of the 155th Mechanized Brigade, as well as addressing problematic issues that need resolution. I issued all necessary directives," added the Commander-in-Chief.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are also finalizing the concept for deploying a separate brigade of unmanned systems.
