As of 10:00 PM on January 5, there have been 177 combat engagements at the front. More than half of these occurred in the Pokrovsk and Kursk directions.
On January 5, the enemy launched one missile strike with two missiles, carried out 52 airstrikes (77 KAB), and utilized 930 kamikaze drones for attacks. They conducted over 4,200 shellings of Ukrainian military positions and populated areas.
The situation at the front
In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled two enemy attacks near Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted to advance four times during the day near Nova Kruglyakivka, Lozova, and Synkivka. All enemy attacks have been repelled.
In the Lyman direction, the invading army attacked 12 times in the areas of Nadiya, Tverdokhlibiv, Zarichne, Novosergiyivka, and Pershotravneve. Three attacks are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, our troops repelled one enemy attack in the Bilohorivka area.
In the Kramatorsk direction, enemy activity resulted in four combat engagements near Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, and Predtechyne. Fighting is currently ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, seven confrontations are continuing near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka, with our defenders stopping five enemy assaults in the areas of Toretsk and Krymske.
The enemy made 50 attempts to breach our defenses in the Pokrovsk direction. Since the start of the day, the occupiers attacked in the areas of the settlements of Yelyzavetivka, Vozdvizhenska, Myrolyubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Solone, Novovasyliivka, Novoyelyzavetivka, and Yaseneve. Thirty-one enemy offensive actions have been halted by the Defense Forces, while 19 attacks are still ongoing.
"According to preliminary information, today our soldiers neutralized 300 occupiers in this direction, 130 of whom are irretrievable losses. One tank, four BMPs, six units of enemy automotive equipment, one artillery system, and 10 UAVs were destroyed. Additionally, two artillery systems, a vehicle, and an enemy tank were damaged," the report states.
In the Kurakhiv direction, the enemy attacked our positions near Slovyanka, Petropavlivka, Kurakhove, and Dachne. Currently, Ukrainian soldiers have repelled 22 enemy attacks, with three combat engagements still ongoing.
In the Vremivka direction, our forces repelled 13 enemy attacks near the settlements of Yantarne, Novy Komar, Novodarivka, and towards Konstantinople, with Defense Forces units repelling five of them; eight confrontations are still ongoing.
In the Dnipro direction, Russian invaders attacked our positions once. They received a harsh rebuff and suffered losses.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue operations in the Kursk region, with 44 combat engagements reported, 35 of which have already concluded. Fighting continues.
No significant changes have occurred in other directions.
"Today, for their effective and professional combat work, we should highlight the soldiers of the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush, the 14th Operational Brigade named after Ivan Bohun, and the 425th Separate Assault Battalion 'Skelya', who are effectively destroying the enemy and inflicting significant losses on them in personnel and equipment," the General Staff concluded.
