In Odesa, authorities have detained the commander of a military unit who, over the course of seven months, had been taking a portion of combat payments from his subordinates. This information was reported by the Odesa regional police.
Investigators found that the 31-year-old commander demanded 30% of the additional monetary payments for completing combat missions from his subordinates. He claimed the money was needed for the military unit's expenses, including the repair of equipment.

Those who refused to pay were threatened by the officer, who stated he would create artificial obstacles in their service by fabricating nonexistent shortcomings in their work, unjustly transferring them to other units, and sending them to combat zones.
In this manner, from June to December of last year, the commander received over 400,000 hryvnias from the personnel. He was apprehended while collecting a "tribute" of 41,000 hryvnias for December.

The disgraced commander faces up to 10 years in prison with asset confiscation. The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail.
