The Air Forces warned about the launches of Russian UAVs around 21:00 on February 16. The main direction of the attack was from the east towards the central regions. Additionally, a group of enemy drones approached from the south, posing a threat to the Odesa region.

Throughout the night, military reports indicated a gradual advance of Russian drones. Initially, they reached the Poltava and Kirovohrad regions before heading towards Kyiv. Subsequently, they moved into Zhytomyr and Khmelnytskyi, according to a series of reports from the air command. Moreover, there was a threat to the Mykolaiv region as UAVs were flying in from the north, noted the Air Forces' report at 1:17 AM. There is currently no information on the results of the air defense operations.

The air alarm map indicated that the warning siren was first activated in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions. The alert lasted for about eight hours — from 21:00 on February 16 until 5:30 on February 17. The alarm spread to the central regions, reaching Zhytomyr (from 0:36 to 4:15) and Khmelnytskyi (from 1:47 to 3:03). In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, the threat persisted for approximately six hours (until 4:52).

The Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration and the head of the military administration, Ivan Fedorov, confirmed the nighttime attack by Russian drones around 3:34 AM. As a result of the Russian strikes, a fire broke out in a non-residential building, the official stated. During the night, the enemy launched 10 drones at Zaporizhzhia: there were no casualties, and emergency services are on site, he added.

The Kharkiv Regional Administration and its head, Oleg Synegubov, reported on the drone strikes in two districts of Kharkiv — the Kholodnohirs'kyi and Saltivskyi districts. In the Kholodnohirs'kyi district, windows were shattered in homes, and three women experienced stress reactions, according to the report. The Saltivskyi district also suffered broken windows, but there were no injuries.

The head of the Kyiv Regional Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, wrote on Telegram that air defense systems were active over the region and managed to shoot down Russian targets. The official did not specify the number of drones downed. According to him, there were no injuries, and infrastructure objects were not damaged. Additionally, he noted that in the Boryspil district, a fire broke out at an industrial facility and warehouses as a result of the "Shahed" attack. In Brovary, private houses were damaged. The Sumy Regional Administration published information at 6:59 AM about repelling the Russian drone attack. It turned out that eight "Shaheds" were shot down over the region during the night. However, there was a hit on a service station. The building of the technical service station and the vehicles inside were damaged, the report stated. There is no information about any injured people.

The Poltava Regional Administration reported on the operation of air defense systems over the region and the falling of debris from a "Shahed" in the Zen'kovets'ka community. The debris damaged a residential house and an outbuilding, but there were no injuries, officials reported.

In Kherson, following the nighttime attack by Russia, there were issues with electricity supply, reported the head of the city military administration, Roman Mrochko. According to the official, the Dniprovskyi and Central districts of the city are without power, and there are issues in the Korabelnyi district. Additionally, there are problems with water supply in the Korabel (Island) microdistrict, the official stated.

It is worth noting that on the night of February 12, the Russian Armed Forces struck Kyiv with ballistic missiles, according to the Air Forces. Correspondent Oleg Borisov stated on the "Kyiv 24" channel that Western chips were found inside the Russian missiles.
