Military payments: Will the amount change in December?

The amount of military personnel's salary is influenced by numerous factors. Changes to the payment structure may be introduced in December 2024. This information is mentioned in an article by "NV".

The deputy chief of the financial and economic service of one of the Armed Forces brigades, known by the call sign "Adik", stated that the amount of military personnel's salary will remain unchanged, as it has in recent months. However, given that December concludes the financial year, and the payments for this month include the salary for November and part of December, the total amount at the end of the year is likely to be higher.

He notes that a similar situation was observed at least last year. For soldiers in the Ukrainian Ground Forces who hold staff positions and have the minimum tariff grade, the minimum level of monetary provision will be calculated as follows:

• salary for the 1st tariff grade — 2,470 UAH;
• salary for the rank of soldier — 530 UAH;
• bonus for service specifics 65% — 1,950 UAH;
• premium (1st tariff grade, length of service — less than 1 year) — 15,635.10 UAH
• indexation — 130.20 UAH.

The minimum monthly salary for a military personnel member, excluding deductions and penalties, amounts to 20,715.30 UAH. Additionally, personal income tax is not collected from military personnel. However, the military levy, which was previously set at 1.5%, increased to 5% starting from October 2024. By the end of the year, this amount may slightly rise as the indexation will depend on the inflation rate.

"However, it is important to note that since December is the final month of the budget year, there may be instances where actual payments differ from those observed in recent months. For example, in December 2023, not only the monthly salary for November was paid, but also part of the salary for December," explained the military financier.

Payments to military personnel are made in two stages:

• advance from the 5th to the 15th;
• full amount after the 25th.
