The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has signed a law that restores the right of military personnel to resign from military service in the event of the death or disappearance of their half-siblings.

According to the website of the Verkhovna Rada, draft law No. 11531 was returned to parliament with the president's signature on December 31, 2023.

The document will take effect the day after its official publication.

According to the provisions of the law, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine must within 10 days:

  • Develop the necessary regulatory acts for the implementation of the law;
  • Align the regulatory documents of ministries and other central executive bodies with the new law.

This law ensures the realization of military personnel's right to resign from military service in cases of losing close relatives due to the war.
