The current deployment of North Korean military forces on Russian territory remains unclear. However, according to South Korean intelligence, a recent "reinforcement" for the Russian army has already been deployed along the front line to combat the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This information was disclosed by the Yonhap news agency on February 27.
According to South Korean military sources, since the beginning of this year, specifically during January and February, Russian military forces have reinforced their ranks with no fewer than 1,000 North Korean soldiers.
"North Korean troops were transported to Russia sometime in January and February of this year," the intelligence reported.
At the same time, South Korean military officials note that Kim Jong-un is preparing to send additional soldiers in addition to those already participating in the Russo-Ukrainian war.
Meanwhile, North Korea may increase resource supplies to Russia, which are necessary for conducting military operations. Analysts from the American Institute for the Study of War believe that the DPRK and the RF are preparing to deepen cooperation under the previously signed "comprehensive partnership" agreement. These conclusions were drawn based on news of a planned meeting between North Korean and Russian politicians, as well as information regarding the loading of a cargo ship with containers. It is likely that there may be military cargo for the RF, as noted by the experts from the Institute for the Study of War in their report on February 26.
