Professor Iosif Los from Lviv National University has been accused of unethical behavior towards female students. He engaged them in personal conversations and made suggestive remarks. This was reported by former journalism student Ekaterina Rodak on social media.
According to her, while she was a student, she had to take an exam with Professor Los, and during their private meeting in his office, he began discussing topics unrelated to her studies.
"We were alone, and I listened to his long lecture about how special I am, that I need a special man — an Aryan, a Ukrainian, with good genetics. He said I should get pregnant as soon as possible and only work where he instructs. No journalism online, only newspapers. He also insisted that I stop associating with my friends because they supposedly have a bad influence on me. Additionally, he claimed that wearing jeans with exposed knees was inappropriate for me, as it 'is not my style' and, moreover, it excites and distracts teachers (specifically him)," she recounted.
Furthermore, she stated that he began to lift the sleeve of her sweater and inquire about her feelings.
"I replied that I felt nothing. But that was a lie — I felt disgust, yet I couldn't express it because I was pressured by his authoritative position as a professor and the feeling that it would be an exaggeration if I reacted strongly. Somehow, this vile interaction ended, and I never went into that office alone again," Ekaterina shared.
She added that everyone at the institution was aware of the professor's behavior, but it was brushed off as a joke, and it continued. The woman expressed regret that 19-year-old girls often struggle to establish their boundaries.
In the comments beneath her post, several students confirmed Ekaterina Rodak's statements, stating that they too had experienced the professor's unethical behavior.
In a comment to LVIV.MEDIA, Iosif Los categorically denied all accusations, labeling the situation as a "provocation."
"What harassment? Are you joking? I ask nothing from anyone, just that they study well. This is a lie; do you know how old I am? It's ridiculous, I've already... I'm a great-grandfather, not just a grandfather, but a great-grandfather," he declared.
He referred to the students' claims as a provocation and urged people not to believe them.
It’s worth noting that on January 20, a video surfaced in which a student from Kyiv National University of Theater, Cinema and Television named after I.K. Karpenko-Karyy anonymously accused a well-known director, university lecturer, and head of the "Young Theater" of harassment.
