In the United States, at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska, an F-35 fighter jet of the U.S. Air Force crashed during a training flight. The pilot was able to eject safely. This was reported by Associated Press.
According to the publication, a technical malfunction occurred during the flight, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency. The aircraft went down while the pilot was attempting to land at the airbase. He managed to eject.
The pilot is currently in stable condition and undergoing evaluation at a medical facility. The aircraft sustained significant damage.
"The Air Force will conduct a thorough investigation, hoping to minimize the likelihood of similar incidents," noted Colonel Paul Townsend, commander of the 354th Fighter Wing.
As a reminder, on December 23, a plane crashed in the middle of a residential area, carrying a Brazilian millionaire and 10 other individuals.
