In Kyiv, regulations for public transport during alarms may be updated: here’s what will be implemented.

A new initiative is being considered in Kyiv regarding behavior guidelines during air raid alerts on public transport: there are already certain developed solutions that may soon be implemented. At the same time, the innovation will take safety factors into account, and its main goal is to prevent chaos during alerts in the capital, particularly near city metro stations. Details were shared by Evgeny Ievlev, a representative of the Kyiv City Military Administration, during an interview with Novini.LIVE on February 26.

According to the initiative, public transport drivers will have the authority to decide whether it is necessary to stop movement during an air raid alert in the capital. If they deem it appropriate not to stop and if the safety situation allows, drivers may continue operating without interruption.

"There are already initial official and specific proposals from law enforcement agencies in the capital, particularly regarding optimizing the actions for public transport drivers," Ievlev noted.

He reported that city officials, together with law enforcement, military representatives, and specialists from the State Emergency Service, are currently working on forming an algorithm that addresses the restoration of full public transport movement.

"The goal is to avoid a collapse near bridges and metro stations," the agency representative stated.

According to him, the new initiative may soon be presented to the city defense council for consideration. No further details regarding the new action algorithm during alerts have been disclosed yet.

This follows reports that in Kyiv, there are plans to halt transport movement during a minute of silence from 08:50 to 09:00. It was mentioned that movement would be restored only after the minute of silence concludes.
