In Uzhhorod, a taxi driver refused to take passengers who insisted on speaking Ukrainian.

A taxi driver in Uzhhorod canceled a ride because the passengers insisted on speaking with him in Ukrainian. This was reported by Olga Svitlinets, who had called the taxi.

"Yesterday, a Bolt driver canceled the ride due to our request to communicate in Ukrainian. In Uzhhorod. In 2024. On the 11th year of the war," Svitlinets wrote.

She also mentioned that the driver justified his actions by claiming to be originally from Crimea, arguing that the Constitution of Crimea is written in Russian. The driver remarked that Crimea is Ukraine, and therefore, using the Russian language is acceptable.

The woman noted that she has already reached out to the taxi service's support team.

In the comments under the post, the company's response emerged.

"We regret that the client had an unpleasant experience during their ride with Bolt. All necessary measures have already been taken regarding the driver, including his suspension from using our service," the statement read.

The company emphasized that they always remind drivers that, according to Article 30 of the Law of Ukraine No. 2704-VIII "On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language," customer service must be conducted in the state language.
