A man received a nine-year prison sentence for killing his stepfather; he only intended to scare him.

According to data from the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office, a 50-year-old man killed his stepfather on May 11 of this year. The events unfolded in the Lozivskyi district.

“The relatives were drinking alcohol together at home. A quarrel erupted during which the accused grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his stepfather in the chest. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” the prosecutor's office reported.

During the trial, the man admitted his guilt but insisted that he did not intend to kill – he only planned to scare his stepfather. The accused was found guilty and sentenced to nine years behind bars.
