A 70-year-old grandmother was beaten for money to buy alcohol; police have issued a suspect notification.

According to the data from the regional office of the National Police in Kharkiv, a 30-year-old grandson was abusing his elderly grandmother.

In addition to physical violence, the man also employed psychological abuse, frequently creating scandals filled with foul language. Primarily, the police report that he assaulted the woman due to her refusal to give him money for alcoholic beverages.

“The officers from the domestic violence prevention sector of the Kharkiv RUP No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region repeatedly responded to calls, prepared administrative protocols under Article 173-2 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, and issued urgent restraining orders against the offender. Despite court-imposed fines and community service assignments, the man continued his unlawful behavior,” the police noted.

As a result, on February 20, the police presented the man with a suspicion under Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for domestic violence.
