A lover of country retreats is suspected of working for Russia: what was discovered on his phone.

The press secretary of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in the Kharkiv region, Vladislav Abdula, reported that a 21-year-old local resident has been detained on suspicion of collaborating with the Russian Federation.

According to the investigation, he was recruited through Telegram channels, where the suspect posted comments in support of the Russian Federation and expressed a desire to move to Russia to be with relatives.

“According to available information, the FSB promised the agent 'evacuation' to Russia after completing assigned tasks. In particular, the traitor attempted to identify the combat positions of the artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which were keeping the invading forces' assault groups under fire control. He did this under the guise of trips to his summer house near the front line,” the SBU reported.

Additionally, the suspect was searching for traces of tank tracks and other military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that were moving towards the line of confrontation.

“Returning from his 'country getaway' to Kharkiv, the agent recorded the locations of anti-aircraft missile systems protecting the airspace over the city. SBU officers documented the suspect's crimes and apprehended him 'red-handed' while he was conducting further reconnaissance near the regional center. A mobile phone containing evidence of his collaboration with the FSB was seized from the traitor,” the security officials clarified.

At this stage, the man has been detained and charged. If his guilt is proven, he faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation, the SBU added.
