The main news of the day is in the chronicle of the MG "Obektiv".
OTU "Kharkiv" reported on the situation at the front as of 9:00 AM on December 20.
“In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions but actively used aviation. Russian occupiers carried out four airstrikes using eight KABs and also 54 strikes with kamikaze drones. They made 349 shelling attacks on the positions of Ukrainian defenders,” — reported the press service of OTU "Kharkiv".
Residents are evacuating from the village of Kutyivka, located near Dvurechna in the Kharkiv region. This trend was reported by the head of the Kupiansk RWA, Andriy Kanashievich, during a national marathon broadcast.
“We are observing that the increase in shelling is prompting people to leave. We see this now in the Dvurechna community, where shelling has intensified, and active actions by enemy FPV drones have increased. Just yesterday, a woman was injured from such a drop. There are nearby settlements to Dvurechna, for instance, the settlement of Kutyivka, from which people have not left for a long time, but in recent days, following an increase in shelling, the number of requests to the Coordination Humanitarian Center has risen. We have information that 12-15 people have left this settlement in recent days, specifically in one day,” — Kanashievich reported. Read more.

Information on the consequences of Russian shelling over the past day was provided by the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleg Synegubov, on the morning of December 20. According to him, three people died in the region, and there are also injuries. The most severe consequences were from a missile strike in the Kupiansk district — on the settlement of Shevchenkove.
On the evening of December 20, around 20:30, the Russian “Shahed” hit the Zmiiv community in the Chuguiv district — the strike occurred in the village of Cheremushne. A 54-year-old resident of Dvurechna was also injured.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in the morning summary on December 20 that the RF Armed Forces conducted airstrikes on six populated areas in the Kharkiv region over the past day.
“The aggressor carried out airstrikes, particularly in the areas of Aleksandrovka, Tsupovka, Mali Prokhody, Veseloe, Udy, and Lozova. In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations but actively used aviation,” — stated the General Staff.
In the Kupiansk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there were ten attacks over the past day. Assaults were repelled near Lozova, Zahryzovoe, and Kolesnykivka.
The air alert in the Kharkiv region lasted from the evening of December 19 until 02:17 on the 20th. Initially, it was declared due to the appearance of Russian “Shaheds” over the region.
Drones circled over the region for hours, moving either north towards the Sumy region or south towards the administrative borders of Dnipropetrovsk. After midnight, new groups of UAVs flew into the neighboring Sumy region. Although the all-clear was given in Kharkiv region at 02:17, reports of “Shaheds” over various regions of Ukraine continued to come from the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine until 05:37 in the morning.
At 06:37, another alert sounded — this time across the whole country. The reason was the takeoff of a missile carrier “Kinzhal” — the MiG-31K aircraft.
This alert remains relevant as of 07:02.
